Trang, on the southern Andaman coast, stays less known than Krabi or Phuket even though it gives access to a group of preserved islands (Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Ngai) known for their clear water and low visitor numbers.
The Emerald Cave
On Koh Mook, the Emerald Cave (Tham Morakot) can only be reached by swimming through a partly submerged tunnel, opening onto a hidden beach ringed by cliffs — a one-of-a-kind site on the Andaman coast.
Still-preserved islands
Koh Kradan and Koh Ngai, less developed than islands further north, offer white sand beaches and coral reefs reachable on a day trip from Trang.
Trang has its own airport, with direct flights from Bangkok; access to the Emerald Cave depends on the tide and is only possible in the dry season, from November to April.
